Hall selected recipient of the Doug Thompson Memorial Scholarship

The Grayson County High School Football Alumni Association (GCHSFAA) has selected the winner of the 2026 Doug Thompson Memorial Scholarship.

Shane Hall was given the award and $500 scholarship Sunday at Senior Award’s Night. He is slated to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.

Hall, a three-year letterman who played wide receiver and safety, was the 2025 gridiron Cougars’ team captain. He also won the 2025 Cougar Courage Award for battling back from a season-ending injury suffered during his sophomore season.

Hall led last year’s team with 24 receptions and two touchdowns. On the defensive side the ball, he recorded 18 tackles, 17 solo tackles.

Not only was Hall an outstanding player on the field, he was equally impressive in the classroom, as he sported a 3.67 GPA. He was also a member of the GCHS Orchestra.

Hall is a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, and is the son of Devon and Jason Hall, of Leitchfield.

Previous recipients of the Doug Thompson Memorial Scholarship are: Cooper Terry, Zachary Bratcher, Hunter Tomes, Kole Snyder, Sawyer Drake, and Greyson Chaffins.

About the Doug Thompson Memorial Scholarship: Each year, the GCHS Football Alumni Association awards a $500 scholarship to a member of the GCHS Football team (player or student staff member) who plans to continue their education through an undergraduate degree program or certification from an accredited college, university, or technology school.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: About GCHS Football Alumni Association: GCHSFAA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 2018. The mission of the GCHSFAA is to develop and maintain a close relationship between their alumni, Grayson County High School, the current football program, and community, for their mutual benefit.
