A Daviess County High School student was hospitalized last week after becoming ill from vaping.

Davies County deputies were dispatched to the school at approximately 12:30 Thursday afternoon after a female student was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for a “vaping overdose,” according to police. She was later released. Authorities said the student was in class when she started to doze off. A teacher then discovered the girl was under the influence after using a vaping pen.

The contents of the vape pen will be sent to the Kentucky State Police laboratory for testing.

Three students have been charged in the case, with authorities adding that at least three more are facing charges, including public intoxication, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
