Former Grayson County High School Lady Cougars basketball star Madison Stewart has been named an NAIA Division I All-American at Campbellsville University.

Stewart, a senior forward, was recently selected a Third Team All-American. On the season, she averaged 10.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.6 steals per game for the 33-3 Lady Tigers, who ended the season ranked No. 2 in the nation.

The 5-foot-9 Stewart posted two 29 point games and a 26 point outing during her senior year. She also grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds versus West Virginia Tech on December 15. Known as a defensive ball-hawk, Stewart recorded a season-high five steals against Mobile on November 10. An outstanding outside shooter, the former Third Region Player of the Year connected on 39.3 percent (22-46) of her 3-points shots on the season. She also made 75-of-90 free throws, good for 83.3 percent.

Stewart scored her 1,000th college point on February 2 with a half-court, halftime buzzer-beater, and finished her Campbellsville University career ranked 32nd on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,087 points.

For the first time in Lady Tigers history, Campbellsville boasted four All-Americans as Savannah Gregory was named a Second-Team All-American, while Caitlin Hall and Madison Faulkner were tabbed Honorable Mention All-Americans.

The Lady Tigers season ended on March 16 in a heartbreaking 94-88 quarterfinal loss in the NAIA national tournament in Billings, Montana.
