An Edmonson County mother has been charged with leaving her three small children alone while she went to Bowling Green.

On Monday night, the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office responded to Chalybeate School Road, about eight miles south of Brownsville and near the Warren County line, after receiving a report that 25-year-old Kala Ware had left her children home alone.

When a deputy arrived at the residence at approximately 11:30 Monday night, three children under the age of four were found to be home alone.

Social services and Ware’s family members were notified and as police were still on scene, Ware returned home. She told law enforcement that she left her children with a friend before admitting to leaving them home alone while she went to Bowling Green.

She was arrested and charged with three counts of child abandonment (a class D felony) and lodged in the Hart County Jail. The children, who were uninjured, were placed with a relative.
