Four people have been arrested in Clarkson after police seized nearly two ounces of methamphetamine, other drugs and cash.
In a story K105 first reported on Monday morning, at approximately 7:20 Sunday night, Grayson County Sgt. Jordan Jones and Deputy Thomas Lane arrived at an apartment in the 200 block of Renfro Street in Clarkson to serve a warrant when deputies detected the odor of marijuana, according to the arrest citation.
A search warrant was obtained for the apartment, and Leitchfield Police Officer DJ Newton arrived to assist.
During the execution of the search warrant, police located nearly two ounces of methamphetamine, over a dozen gabapentin pills, two THC pens, a small amount of marijuana, and nearly $500 in cash along with numerous items of drug trafficking paraphernalia.
The four people present were “asked for ownership (of the drugs and other items) and all denied,” the citation states.
Police arrested 22-year-old Mylan Salsman, of Clarkson 34-year-old Nicholas K. Payton, of Leitchfield, 34-year-old Brittany M. Coleman, and 47-year-old Larry Poole, of Grayson County.
All four were charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, drug unspecified) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Salsman was also charged with possession of marijuana.
Coleman, while being processed into the Grayson County Detention Center, was discovered by jail staff to have hidden a glass pipe “used to smoke methamphetamine” on her person. She was additionally charged with first-degree promoting contraband.
This marks the second time Coleman has been caught attempting to bring contraband into the detention center. In September 2018, after her arrest at FiveStar Food Mart in Leitchfield for crawling around in the parking lot and trying to put cash into the gas pumps, Coleman was found by detention center staff to have a needle and methamphetamine on her person.
Salsman, a felon, was convicted in Grayson County for receiving stolen property in August 2022, according to the Kentucky Department for Corrections, following a May 2020 incident where he stole two vehicles in less than seven hours. He was also jailed for absconding for parole in August 2023.
Poole is also a felon after being convicted in June 2019 for trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections. In 2015, he was convicted in Grayson County for second-degree theft by failure to make required disposition, a conviction that was enhanced by second-degree persistent felony offender finding.
