At Monday night’s Clarkson City Commission meeting, Mayor Bonnie Henderson announced that Clarkson Connected, a recently formed group of local religious, business and political leaders, will host a Thanksgiving Dinner for any family who wishes to attend.

Henderson said the outreach team at Clarkson Baptist Church originated the idea of Clarkson Connected. The organization continues to add and recruit new participants.

The free Thanksgiving Dinner will be held on Saturday, November 23, from 10:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. (or until the food runs out) at Clarkson City Hall and Community Center. The dinner is for anyone who wishes to attend, but Clarkson Connected is hoping to feed families who might not otherwise be able to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving feast.

The menu includes turkey, courtesy of the new owners of K’s Café, David and Janine Washle, and dressing, courtesy of Redneck Ranch, owned and operated by Ed Schott. Green beans and bread will also be served. The Grayson County High School culinary team will provide cookies and brownies.

The event will be advertised around Clarkson via fliers, and members of Clarkson Connected will also notify families door-to-door.

Tree lighting

Clarkson will hold its annual Tree Lighting ceremony on Friday, December 6, at 6:00. The event will be held at Clarkson City Hall and Community Center.

There will be singing and plenty of goodies to eat, and of course Santa is scheduled to appear.
