A Hardin County woman has been arrested after stabbing her husband and pouring boiling water on him as he slept.

Wednesday morning at approximately 1:45, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and after an investigation, determined that 24-year-old Megan E. Wilson, of Rineyville, stabbed her husband in the chest and poured hot water on him.

According to media reports, the victim awoke to a burning sensation and found Wilson holding a 7-inch knife and a pot of boiling water. As the victim tried to get out of the bed, Wilson stabbed him in the chest. The victim then ran from the home to a neighbor’s residence.

The victim was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of the stab wound and third-degree burns “on a large portion of his body,” The News-Enterprise reports.

Wilson, who smelled of alcohol, according to police, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault (domestic violence) and tampering with physical evidence. She was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
