Grayson County Schools (GCS) has announced that the February school calendar will remain on the current A/B schedule.

“Continuation of this schedule allows us to maintain social distancing within our schools and classrooms,” school officials said. “It provides time for staff who received the vaccine to complete the second dose. It also provides additional time for our community to decrease the spread of the virus. We will continue to monitor the community health climate and revisit this timeframe toward the end of next month.”

Currently, Grayson County remains a COVID-19 “red zone,” according to the Kentucky Department for Public Health. This week (Mon.-Thurs.) in the county, 65 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed along with four deaths. Since January 22, the school district has reported nine cases of the virus: six students and three staff members.

According to the GCS COVID-19 Dashboard, as of Thursday, 158 people associated with the school district are under quarantine: 55 due to school-related contacts, 103 due to non-school related contacts.
