A Leitchfield man has been arrested after breaking into a home and threatening to kill a woman.

Sunday night at approximately 9:45, Leitchfield Police Officers Chase Melton, Missy Skaggs, Adam Cottrell, Chance Anthony, and Sgt. Keith Harrell arrived at a residence on South Claggett Drive after Grayson County Central Dispatch received a report that a male was trying to break-in the home as he threatened to kill the female occupant.

The suspect, 47-year-old Irvin D. Dales, broke the glass out of the front door of the residence to gain entry as the female hid inside, relating to dispatch Dales’ movements.

Multiple officers arrived soon after Dales entered the home and quickly arrested the suspect.

He was charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

The suspect, police said, does not know the victim, as Dales breaking into the home appears to be a random act.
