An overnight investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies has resulted in the arrest of a Clarkson man on car theft and drug trafficking charges.

Tuesday morning at approximately 1:00, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) was notified by the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office that a stolen vehicle from Edmonson County could be in Clarkson.

Over the next hour, GCSO Sgt. Fred Norder and Deputy Jason Luedke, Clarkson Police Chief Buck Meredith and Officer Blake Elmore, along with Edmonson County Deputy Matt Skaggs, arrived at 209 Bethel Church Road and discovered a stolen Mercedes, along with several other vehicles, in and around the driveway of the residence.

Police attempted to make contact with the occupant of the home to no avail.

Luedke then obtained a search warrant for the property and at approximately 4:10 Tuesday morning, police, including Leitchfield Officer Chance Anthony, surrounded the home with Norder, on his cruiser’s bullhorn, ordering the occupant out of the house (see video below).

After about four minutes, 56-year-old Mark T. Renfro emerged with his hands in the air. He was detained with officers searching the residence. During that search, police located a “substantial amount” of methamphetamine.

Renfro was arrested and faces charges of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and theft by unlawful taking (automobile). He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

The investigation continues and more arrests are possible.
