A car accident on Shrewsbury Road has led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a Hardin County man.

Monday morning at approximately 6:30, Grayson County Lt. Sonny Poteet responded to the 5900 block of Shrewsbury Road on the report of a single-vehicle crash. The vehicle’s two occupants fled the scene of the crash, according to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.

Poteet’s investigation revealed that the driver, Brian L. Cato, 37, of Eastview, had fled to a residence near to where the crash occurred. During the investigation it was discovered the wrecked vehicle had been reported stolen out of Hardin County, the sheriff’s office said.

Cato admitted to Poteet that he stole and crashed the vehicle.

Cato was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center where he was charged with receiving stolen property (over $10,000) and driving on a suspended/revoked license.

Cato was previously arrested in Hardin County in July 2019 and charged with receiving stolen property (over $10,000), theft by unlawful taking and driving on a suspended/revoked license.

Additionally, Cato was convicted in March of last year in Breckinridge County for his third DUI and driving on a suspended/revoked license.
