Grayson County reported nearly 140 COVID-19 cases between Saturday and Tuesday.

The Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) reports Grayson County had a combined 139 cases over the four-day period, as 60 cases were reported on Saturday; 40 on Sunday; 16 on Monday; and 23 on Tuesday.

The KDPH now says Grayson County has had 3,401 cases of the virus diagnosed since the onset of the pandemic.

Grayson County’s coronavirus incident rate is the highest in western Kentucky, as the key metric checked in at 144.3 on Tuesday, nearly six times the number of cases (over the last seven days) required to have a “critical spread” of the virus, according to the KDPH.

Bordering counties continue to experience an exceedingly high rate of COVID transmission, as well, as Breckinridge (128.3), Hardin (122.2), Hart (106.6), Ohio/Edmonson (91.7), and Butler (91) have incident rates well over the threshold needed to have a “critical spread” of the virus.

Clay County (206.7) and Rockcastle County (198.5), both in eastern Kentucky, have the highest rate of occurrences in the state.

Currently, 119 of Kentucky’s 120 counties are in the “red,” as the commonwealth’s incident rate is 84.73.

The KDPH reports Grayson County has had 61 COVID-related deaths, with several deaths awaiting confirmation from state health officials.
