An apparent theft ring in Hart County has been discovered following a shoplifting arrest.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office said that after the recent shoplifting arrest of 51-year-old Amy Garcia, information was obtained that led deputies to obtain a search warrant for a residence on London Pace Sink Road, less than a mile north of Cave City.

“Numerous stolen items from burglaries in the county were recovered,” the sheriff’s office said. According to police, a few of the stolen items recovered include a Polaris four-wheeler, Miller welder, air compressors, roofing equipment, and power tools.

Besides Garcia, who was charged with theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting), also arrested were 29-year-old Damien Stepp and 26-year-old Samantha Cornett, both of Horse Cave, following the execution of the search warrant.

Stepp was charged with second-degree burglary, receiving stolen property (over $10,000) and tampering with physical evidence. Cornett was charged with receiving stolen property (over $10,000). She was also served with a failure to appear warrant.

Stepp and Cornett were lodged in the Hart County Jail. Garcia is not listed as an inmate at the facility.

Police said more arrests are possible.
