A wind-blown fire has destroyed between 15 and 20 acres off Rock Creek Road.

Wednesday evening at approximately 6:25, two Clarkson firefighters, Bill Dalton (who is also a Grayson County constable) and Matthew Woosley, responded to the large grass/woods fire about a half-mile off the 3300 block of Rock Creek Road.

Upon arriving, Dalton immediately called for help from firefighters battling the massive wildfire in Wax, as he and Woosley worked to keep the fast-spreading fire from damaging several nearby mobile homes, truck trailers and other structures.

Within a short time, additional members of the Clarkson Fire Department as well as members of the Falls of Rough Fire Department responded and helped limit the spread of the blaze.

It’s unclear how the fire started.

There were no injuries reported and firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Clarkson Police Chief Buck Meredith provided traffic control.
