Grayson Co. COVID cases up over 62%, positivity rate up 93% last 21 days

COVID-19 statistics in Grayson Co. are experiencing a concerning upward trend.

In Grayson Co. during the week ending Sunday, 52 new cases were reported to the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH), well up from the 32 cases reported two weeks ago and an increase of 62.5 percent.

The county’s positivity rate increased from 9.42 percent two weeks ago to 11.50 percent last week — Three weeks ago, the county’s positivity rate was 5.96 percent, giving Grayson Co. a 93 percent increase in the key metric over the last 21 days.

No new COVID-related deaths were reported last week in the county, leaving the death toll at 134.

Since the onset of the pandemic, Grayson Co. has had 8,165 cases of the virus diagnosed.

Despite the rising COVID numbers, though, the county remains in the “green,” according to the KDPH, indicating a “low” spread of the virus within the community.
