The wife of an eastern Kentucky judge-executive has been killed in a traffic accident.
Rose Malone, 74, of Grayson, died in the wreck Monday morning on westbound I-64 in Rowan County, according to media outlets. Her husband, Carter County Judge-Executive Mike Malone, was airlifted to University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. His condition is not known.
Mike Malone, who was driving a pickup truck, had to be extricated from the vehicle after it left the roadway and traveled down an embankment near the Morehead exit.
The Republican has served as Carter County Judge-Executive since 2015, according to the Kentucky County Judge-Executive Association.
