Utilities workers labored for hours Friday morning in sub-zero temperatures repairing a broken water line in Leitchfield.

A Leitchfield Utilities crew was dispatched Friday morning at approximately 1:00 to repair a broken water line near the intersection of North Main Street and Floyd Street.

The temperature during this time was -2 degrees with wind chill readings well below zero as winds up to 20 miles per hour whipped through Grayson County. Despite this, the crew of a half-dozen workers, including Leitchfield Utilities Superintendent Dwight Embry, worked several hours in the heart of the coldest weather the region has experienced in recent memory to repair the broken line.

A result of the broken water line was the issuance of a Boil Water Advisory, which remains in effect for North Main Street from the railroad tracks to Kelly Street, and Lilac Road from Brandenburg Road to Mid-South Lumber and Supply (510 Lilac Road), including Carson Drive, Thomas Drive, Essie Lane, Deshea Drive, Grayson Street, North Broadway, and Carwile Drive.

K105 will alert readers when the advisory is lifted.
