A man has been indicted in the death of a teen in a fiery crash in Louisville’s east end.

A Jefferson County Grand Jury indicted 26-year-old Porfirio C. Hernandez, of Louisville, on multiple charges, including murder, first-degree wanton endangerment, DUI, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, according to WAVE3.com.

On the morning of December 18, 2022, Hernandez, driving a pickup truck south in the northbound lanes in the 7400 block of Hurstbourne Parkway, crashed into a vehicle being driven by 19-year-old Landon J. Nokes, of Louisville. Nokes’ vehicle burst into flames.

Hernandez, who was hospitalized, also struck another vehicle, but that driver was not injured.

Nokes was driving home from his job at UPS.

Nokes graduated from Eastern High School in May, WDRB.com reports, where he played lacrosse and football. According to Nokes’ obituary, he earned a football scholarship from Fairmont State University in West Virginia.
