A Morgantown man has been charged with kidnapping and sex abuse after he traveled to Florida and brought back a female juvenile.

Morgantown Police Chief Giles Taylor said officers received a call about a missing 15-year-old juvenile from Florida. Giles said the caller stated that the juvenile might be with 26-year-old Pedro Gomez.

Child Protective Services (CPS) workers met with Morgantown police at Gomez’s residence where they found the missing juvenile and Gomez.

Gomez admitted going to the girl’s Florida home, according to Taylor, and bringing her back to Morgantown without the consent of her guardian.

CPS took custody of the juvenile while the teenager’s legal guardian traveled to Kentucky from Florida.

Gomez was arrested and charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree sexual abuse and lodged in the Butler County Jail.

Gomez’s mugshot was not available.
