A lightning strike set an Anneta home on fire.

Wednesday night at approximately 7:30, the Anneta and Leitchfield Fire Departments, Grayson County Deputy Andy Cast and Grayson County Emergency Management Director Carey Sims responded to the fire in the 200 block of McGrew Church Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a large brick home had been struck by lightning, which ignited a fire in the home’s attic area.

The occupants were able to escape the home with no injuries.

Both departments battled the blaze from outside and inside the home, but despite their efforts the residence suffered catastrophic damage, including a hole in the roof.

There were no injuries reported and firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 10:00 p.m.
