Charles “Jack” Metcalfe, age 86, of Leitchfield, passed away Friday, (April 10, 2026) at Springview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Leitchfield, KY. He was born on September 14, 1939, in Leitchfield, KY, the son of the late Allen Metcalfe and Minta McDonald Metcalfe.
After retiring from the City of Leitchfield, he spent his mornings drinking coffee at Dairy Queen and afternoons eating lunch at Hardee’s. He enjoyed mingling with friends and neighbors while he was out on his daily commute. He was an avid collector of various items and enjoyed listening to live bluegrass music at the annual Twin Lakes National Fiddlers Championship.
Jack became a Christian and was baptized in Nolin River Lake. He was a member for over 20 years at Antioch General Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sister, Wanda Hill of Fairdale, KY; nieces and nephews, Gary “Monk” Metcalfe of Leitchfield, Tracy Metcalfe of Leitchfield, Thomas W. Hill (Joselyn) of Fairdale, KY, Tammy Wright (Steve) of Mebane, NC and Jennifer Wilk (Ronald) of Gansevoort, NY; and two great-nieces, Makayla and McKenna.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Metcalfe and one sister, Margaret Metcalfe, and a special friend, Loretta Huffman.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, (April 23, 2026) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Wayne Clemons and Bro. Damon Lasley Jr. will be officiating. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CST on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. CST Thursday until time of services.
