A man has been jailed after fatally stabbing his girlfriend.
Kentucky State Police responded to the report of a stabbing at the residence at 6063 Hwy 72 in Pathfork in Harlan County on Saturday morning at approximately 7:00, according to Trooper Shane Jacobs.
Upon arriving at the home, troopers found 50-year-old Mary Clayborn suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was transported to Harlan ARH Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased, Jacobs said.
The state police investigation revealed that Clayborn’s boyfriend, 36-year-old Michael E. Howard, stabbed Clayborn in the chest and neck.
Howard was arrested and charged with murder. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $1 million cash bond.
The investigation remains ongoing by Det. Chelsea Hanson.
