Leitchfield PD officer airlifted after suffering medical emergency is released from hospital

A Leitchfield police officer airlifted after suffering a major medical emergency has been released from the hospital.

The incident happened on Sunday afternoon at approximately 5:30 in the 8900 block of Grayson Springs Road when a Leitchfield police officer responded to assist the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Wax and Clarkson Fire Departments at the scene of an apparent suicide.

The officer, after climbing a steep embankment, collapsed and was unresponsive, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the incident.

The officer was rushed by EMS to the Clarkson Ballpark where he was airlifted to a Louisville hospital.

The officer was released from the hospital on Monday afternoon and is doing well.
