In the same week that the Leitchfield baseball park was named the Kelly Stevenson Baseball Complex, the city will host its first-ever Little League 5th District Baseball Tournament.
In addition to teams from Grayson County, squads from Nelson, Washington, Marion, Hardin, and Adair counties will compete for the opportunity to move on to the Little League State Tournament, according to Trent VanMeter, Director of the Leitchfield Youth Baseball/Softball programs.
Grayson County will be represented by its U7, U8, U10, and U12 All-Star teams.
The tournament begins on Saturday, June 28, and ends on Wednesday, July 2.
“Leitchfield Youth Baseball is comprised of players from all over Grayson County. This year the recreation program played its games in Leitchfield, Caneyville and Clarkson,” VanMeter told K105.com. “This is the third year of Leitchfield Youth Baseball being chartered with Little League, and the first year hosting the district tournament.”
Below is when the Grayson County All-Star teams will play their first games in the double-elimination tournament:
- 8U — Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
- 10U – Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
- 7U – Saturday at noon
- 12U – Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
The 7U tournament will end on Saturday, while the 8U tourney concludes on Sunday. The 10U and 12U tournaments end on Wednesday.
Grayson County’s All-Star teams
7U All-Stars: Kase Taylor, Carson Henning, Levi Massey, Connor Maeser, Bentley Crawford, Lucas Ashby, Roman Williams, Cooper Willen, Levi Decker, Waylon Cottrell, and Crew Decker.
8U All-Stars: Knox Rito, Tate Johnston, Tanner Willis, Keygan Burden, Kaceton Embry, Luke Jones, Jackson Tomes, Ruger Manion, Keller Hughes, Jamison Priest, Abel Glutting, and Jaxxon Swift.
10U All-Stars: John Scott Davis, Marshall Dennis, Liam Harrell, Jaxton Hinton, Ace Hughes Gibson Jaggers, Elijah Johnson, Mason Lucas, Thatcher Miller, Easton Renfrow, and Nash Spalding.
12U All-Stars: Lucas Beatty, Kaymein Brooks, Kanton Burdon, Emmett Campbell, Maddix Decker, Luke McCreery, Jeremiah Parks, Hurley Saltsman, Jonathan Sanders, Jax Stahler, Kayden Thomas, and Carter Tucker.
