A nearly 50-mile pursuit of jail escapees and carjacking suspects was ended by law enforcement in Grayson County on the Western Kentucky Parkway.

The incident began on Sunday when troopers were “notified of a carjacking and assault incident at the Family Dollar/Dollar Tree located at 230 South Madisonville Street in Crofton,” according to Kentucky State Police.

Christian County Dispatch advised the incident possibly involved two escaped inmates from the Christian County Detention Center who walked away from a work detail.

Troopers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop near the 60-mile marker of the eastbound WK Parkway, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed, state police said in a press release.

The pursuit continued through Muhlenberg and Ohio counties before entering Grayson County.

As the chase inched closer to Leitchfield, Grayson County Deputies Hunter Miller and Caleb Fisher and Leitchfield Police Department Sgt. Chuck Hoover and Officer Caden Jennings responded to the parkway where spike strips were deployed at the eastbound 106-mile marker, bringing the pursuit to an end at the 108-mile marker.

The driver, 30-year-old Elijah Boodoosignh, of Hopkinsville, who had escaped from the Christian County Detention Center, was charged with second-degree escape, first-degree wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, resisting arrest, speeding 26 mph or greater on a limited access road, possession of an alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, license to be in possession.

A passenger, 39-year-old James Stull, of Covington, who also escaped the Christian County Detention Center, was charged with second-degree escape.

A 31-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was not charged.

Boodoosignh was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center, while Stull was lodged in the Christian County Detention Center.
