
Mary Frances Brooks, age 77, of Millwood, KY, passed away Monday, (April 13, 2026) at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes in Leitchfield, KY. She was born on February 5, 1949 in Caneyville, KY, the daughter of the late Roy and Eva Higdon Mercer.
She had worked at different sewing factories, retired from Plastikon Industries after 12 years of employment, and the later went to work at Perdue Farms. Mary loved to play BINGO and go to the casinos. She also loved to play card games on her computer. She loved to cook, garden, can, and color. Mary was an expert quilter, making quilts and quilted purses. She was one of a kind and will always be remembered as a fun-loving person who enjoyed life.
She married her husband, Charles Edward Brooks on November 9, 1963. She was a member of Community House of Prayer in Butler County.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Edward Brooks; daughter, Charlene Haynes-Jaggers (Dennis); grandchildren, Sabrina (Travis) Tomes, Tamarya Brooks, Samantha Haynes, Kimberly (Danny) Swift, Andrew (Jessa) Brooks, and Allan Brooks; and great-grandchildren, Mya, a special great-grandchild: Aaron Parks, Madison, Ava, Izriah, Charli, Waelyn, Eleanor, Amelia, and two other great-grandchildren; and one brother, Johnny Mercer.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles William Brooks; granddaughter, Danielle Brooks and grandson, Aaron Lee Haynes; and siblings, Roy Mercer, Connie Stevenson, Abbie Jane2 Barrett, Danny Mercer, Cindy Mercer, and an infant sister, Delores Ann Mercer.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, (April 16, 2026) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in
Leitchfield. Bro. Johnny Embry will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Freedom Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. on Thursday until time of services.
