A dog a woman regularly walked with has killed her.
The incident happened on Sunday afternoon at approximately 3:00 on Railroad Street in Maytown, a small community in Floyd County.
The victim, Cynthia “Cindy” Prater, was walking with a dog that had joined her on many previous walks, WYMT.com reports. The dog this time, though, knocked Prater to the ground and attacked her, according to video evidence.
The victim was found deceased in the middle of the road. A German shepherd was found nearby and euthanized. The dog, which was well known in the community, had not previously displayed aggressive behavior.
Prater’s cause of death has not yet been determined, as an autopsy has been ordered. The dog is scheduled to undergo a necropsy.
The investigation is ongoing.
