The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after a body was found near an apparent car accident in the 300 block of West Maple Street in Caneyville.

According to Grayson County Deputy Coroner Larry Holeman, the body of 45-year-old Clinton Brown, of Caneyville, was found Sunday morning between 5:30 and 6:00 on the roadway after being ejected from his vehicle near what appeared to be a slide-off accident. The vehicle was off the roadway and down a seven to eight foot embankment. A firearm was found near Brown’s body.

“We’re trying to determine the cause of death,” Holeman said, adding that the preliminary autopsy results will likely be available on Monday.

Sheriff Norman Chaffins said about the inquiry, “We are working a death investigation on a fatality that may be self-inflicted.”

The body has been taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for autopsy.

Along with Grayson County Deputy Sheriff Taylor Logsdon, the Caneyville Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene.
