A Hardin County woman who struck a vehicle head-on as she shot up drugs, killing two toddlers and seriously injuring their pregnant mother, has been sentenced to over 60 years in prison.

Angela H. Chapman, 43, of Radcliff, was under the influence of drugs on the afternoon of November 13, 2022, when she crossed the center line — as she shot up drugs — on Dixie Highway (Hwy 31-W) in West Point, striking a vehicle and killing one-year-old Ja’Rell Hunter and two-year-old Ja’Reese Hunter.

Their mother, 28-year-old Jasilyn Gardner, who was driving home from church and was pregnant, was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital. She survived her injuries.

Chapman was not injured in the crash. She was indicted by a Hardin County Grand Jury on two counts of murder, first-degree assault, DUI (aggravating circumstances), and persistent felony offender.

On Friday, after reaching a plea deal in late January, Chapman was sentenced to 65 years in prison — Twenty-five years each on the murder counts and 15 years on the assault charge; to be served consecutively, according to WAVE.com.

The Louisville television station reports that Chapman, just prior to the crash, walked away from a drug treatment facility and drove to Walgreens to purchase syringes before driving to her drug dealer’s home.
