A missing juvenile from Clarkson has been found and is in police custody.

Dylan McKnight, 17, eluded police Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:45 after he was spotted near the intersection of West Main Street and Fraim Street. Local law enforcement flooded the area with officers but were unable to find McKnight.

But, at about 6:00 Wednesday evening, law enforcement was alerted that McKnight was standing in front of a residence in the 300 block of Thomas Street, not far from where the juvenile was last seen. Again police converged on the area, with McKnight giving himself up to Leitchfield Police Officer Missy Skaggs.

He was taken to LPD headquarters for questioning. McKnight had been missing since March 18, 2019.

Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins voiced frustration and anger with McKnight after the juvenile fled police, saying “It’s a game to them (some runaway juveniles) … we always want to return missing children to their families” but when missing teens run from police it causes law enforcement to use, and in some cases, waste a tremendous amount of resources.

For example, at the same time Wednesday afternoon that nearly every law enforcement officer in Grayson County was looking for McKnight after he eluded police, an injury accident involving an injured juvenile occurred on Lilac Road. With police resources being used to hunt for McKnight, deputies were delayed in arriving on the scene.

Chaffins added that McKnight will be charged for running from police.

Chaffins also said that the reason the public was not notified of McKnight’s disappearance sooner was for investigative reasons.
