The winner of the special election for Kentucky’s 18th district state representative seat will officially be sworn in next week.

Republican Samara Heavrin defeated Democrat Becky Miller in the special election held earlier this month.

The election was held due to the resignation of Tim Moore. Moore resigned in September in order to spend more time in ministry. Heavrin will fill the remainder of Moore’s term before having another election next year.

She will officially be sworn into office on December 2nd at 6 o’clock in the Old Grayson County Library located at 130 E. Market St. in Leitchfield.

Upon swearing in, Heavrin will become the youngest female to ever become a state representative in Kentucky.
