A Caneyville man and a woman have been arrested after a possible stolen vehicle call led to felony drug charges for the pair.

Saturday night at approximately 11:30, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Fred Norder arrived in the 500 block of Watershed Road looking for a gray Ford Fusion that was possibly stolen out of Warren County.

While searching for the vehicle, Norder observed a gray Ford Fusion parked on the side of the road. As Norder approached the vehicle, according to the arrest citation, the male and female inside began to move around as if they were concealing something.

As Norder made contact with the driver, 28-year-old John A. Mischler, the suspect attempted to hide the movements of the female, as he tried to “fill” the window area, “as if to block (Norder’s) view of the interior,” according to the citation.

Deputy Jason Luedke arrived on scene, and began to question the female when Luedke observed a syringe on the passenger side floor board. The female, 35-year-old Stephanie C. Kincaid, thought to be from Russellville, was then asked to exit the vehicle. As she did, Luedke observed a bag of methamphetamine on the passenger seat, according to the citation.

Mischler, according to the citation, had a straw on his lap as he spoke with Norder. The straw was found to contain white residue. As Norder continued to search the Ford, he located a “clear smoking pipe” on the back floor board that contained a white residue. Deputies also found an open container of alcohol in the Fusion.

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Grayson County Detention Center where a detention center deputy located a syringe in Kincaid’s groin area, according to the citation. While being questioned by police, Kincaid said Mischler asked her to hide the syringe in the manner that she did.

Mischler and Kincaid were charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of an open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mischler was also charged with tampering with physical evidence, while Kincaid was additionally charged with promoting contraband.

Charges related to the possible stolen vehicle could be forthcoming.
