A Leitchfield man has been arrested on a felony drug charge following a road rage incident.

According to Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins, on Sunday night at approximately 9:30, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Leitchfield Police Department and Kentucky State Police responded to a road rage incident where the suspect allegedly “pulled a gun on motorists.”

Officers received a description of the vehicle and obtained the tag number and proceeded to the address listed on the registration. Chaffins said a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle as it turned into the driveway of the residence, in the 6500 block of Brandenburg Road.

Police ordered the driver, James E. Goodwin, 46, to exit the vehicle and as he did, Chaffins said a small plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine fell from his lap to the ground. Several bills (currency) fell from his lap as well.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Colt handgun in the back floorboard.

Goodwin was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), enhanced due to the presence of a firearm. Additional charges are pending.

He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.
