A missing female juvenile from Madison County was captured after leading the Leitchfield Police Department on a pursuit on Beaver Dam Road.

Friday morning at 1:40, Grayson County Central Dispatch alerted local law enforcement that a missing juvenile who may be suicidal was thought to be traveling on Western Kentucky Parkway in Grayson County. Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Zane Greer searched the parkway but was unable to locate the gray Dodge Avenger the juvenile was reportedly driving.

At 2:30 Friday morning, dispatch told Greer the juvenile was thought to be in the Caney Creek Road area. Once again, Greer searched the area but did not locate the vehicle.

Then, at 2:45, as Greer was traveling to another call, he spotted the vehicle at a gas pump at FiveStar, on the corner of West White Oak Street and South Main Street, in Leitchfield. Greer alerted Leitchfield Police Department Officers DJ Newton, Tim Moutardier and Chance Anthony, with Newton arriving at FiveStar within 30 seconds.

Newton pulled in behind the vehicle, which contained a female and two males. As the officer approached the Dodge from the rear, the juvenile female driver fled through the FiveStar parking lot and onto West White Oak Street (traveling west), at a high rate of speed. At that moment, Moutardier, who was approaching the area, gave chase, with Newton and Anthony quickly following suit.

The pursuit, with speeds reaching between 65 and 70 miles per hour, continued for about two-and-a-half miles before the Avenger’s driver’s side front tire blew out, significantly slowing the speed of the chase to approximately 40 miles per hour.

The Dodge continued fleeing for about another mile-and-a-half before the vehicle came to a stop.

The three people in the car, the female juvenile, a male juvenile from Leitchfield and adult male, also from Leitchfield, were detained, with the female juvenile resisting arrest before being taken into custody.

The on-scene investigation revealed that the Avenger had been reported stolen.

The female juvenile was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, resisting arrest, and no operator’s license.

The two males were not charged in the incident.
