Leading 2-0 in the second half, the Cougar soccer team gave up a pair of goals to the North Bullitt Eagles on Saturday and had to settle for a 2-2 tie.

The Cougars took the early lead in the 12th minute of play when senior Josh Stevenson took a pass from junior Colton Glenn and put a shot past goalie Carter Schmidt on his left side to make it 1-0.

The Eagles missed a golden opportunity to tie the game in the 24th minute when Cougar goal keeper Jackson Kane came out of his goal to try to corral  a ball near the 18-yard line, where Eagle Evan McCabe was bringing the ball into the penalty area. Kane slid, trying to come up with the ball as McCabe arrived. Kane missed the ball, giving McCabe a clear shot at the open goal, but shot the ball wide to the right.

Kane made a diving stop of a shot headed for the right side of his goal in the 33rd minute to preserve the Cougar lead, which stayed at 1-0 through the half.

Grayson County made it 2-0 three minutes into the second half when senior Bahaa al Masri brought the ball into the Eagle end on the right side. He sent a beautiful crossing pass back toward the center of the field where Glenn took the ball and fired it past Schmidt to make it 2-0.

The Eagles got on the board in the 55th minute when Larry Miguel put a shot past Kane’s left side.

In the 65th minute, the Eagles were pressuring the Cougar goal when one of the Cougar defenders put a hand on the ball inside the penalty area, awarding the Eagles with a penalty kick.

Kaelub Schmidt stepped to the ball and put a shot on goal that caromed off the left upright and ricocheted into the goal, tying the score at 2-2.

Kane made another diving save of a shot by Schmidt in the 73rd minute that prevented the Eagles from taking the lead. There were no more chances after that and the game ended in a tie.
