Cougars down Nelson County 68-46 in Holiday Tourney opener

The Grayson County Cougars put three men in double figures and led start to finish Tuesday to beat Nelson County 68-46 in the opening round of the Magnolia Bank Holiday Tournament, being held at Larue County High School.

The Cougars hit nine three-pointers in the one-sided game as they outscored the Cardinals in every quarter.

Junior River Blanton led all scorers in the game with 20 points. Senior Keegan Sharp hit three threes and finished with 13 points, while senior Hunter Tomes had 11 points and led the team on the glass with six rebounds.

The Cougars led by 12 points, 23-11 after the first period, and led by 15 at the half, 40-25. The Cardinals were never closer than 11 points in the second half.

Junior Lincoln Boone led the Cardinals with 18 points.

Brayden Childress had eight points for the Cougars, while Chandler McCrady finished with seven. Seventh-grader Jack Logsdon had four points, Nolan Hornbeck had three and Dillon Horn closed out the scoring with two points.
