The Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) on Wednesday said 140 new COVID-19 cases have been diagnosed since Monday.

The 140 new cases do not include “numbers related to COVID-19 at-home test kits,” according to GCHD Director Josh Horton.

In the last 13 days, 1,094 new cases have been announced by the GCHD (84.1 per day), raising the total number of cases ever in the county to 7,603. Since January 3, 2,198 COVID cases, or 28.9 percent of Grayson County’s total number of cases, have been reported.

Grayson County’s incident rate on Wednesday checked in at 235.1, down over 30 points since Monday but still the eleventh highest rate of occurrence in Kentucky. An incident rate over 25.0 indicates a “critical spread” of the virus, according to the Kentucky Department for Public Health.

There are 856 active cases in Grayson County, according to Horton, up 82 active cases since Monday and the highest number of active cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

Sixteen people are hospitalized, health officials said, one fewer hospitalization than Monday.

One new death was reported, raising the county’s death toll to 115. Seven deaths are awaiting confirmation from state health officials.
