Clarkson Elementary School students celebrated the school’s annual Love to Read Week in a special way this year with a gift of books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Since 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has been dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books to children. In 2020, the program gifted its 150 millionth book, according to the organization’s website.

The library is funded by Parton and local community partners.

The Leitchfield Police Department partnered with the program to provide books to Family Resource Centers (FRC). With $5,300 worth of books shared with the Clarkson FRC, each child at Clarkson was able to pick out a book of their own to take home and share with their family.

Imagination Library currently spans five countries and gifts over one million free books each month to children around the world. The program has received honors and awards for its dedication to enriching the lives of children everywhere.
