An impaired Leitchfield man has been arrested after fleeing from Breckinridge County deputies.
The incident began late Saturday night on Highway 259 south when a deputy observed a vehicle traveling in the wrong lane, as the vehicle, being driven by 33-year-old Donald R. Coogle, nearly struck another vehicle head-on.
Coogle then turned onto Hwy 690 where the deputy attempted to stop Coogle, but the suspect fled onto Richard Moore Road, according to a report by WXBC.com. Coogle then struck a wall, as the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
He was soon caught in a wooded area.
Coogle was arrested and charged with felony wanton endangerment of a police officer, felony wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle, on foot), his fourth DUI, first-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, and failure to maintain insurance.
In addition to three other DUI arrests, Coogle, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, was convicted in Grayson County in July 2021 for third-degree burglary following this incident on South Henninger Drive on March 29, 2020.
