Two teenage Hardin County brothers have been arrested and charged with a murder in Iowa.

Milton McAbee, 19, and his brother, Elijah McAbee, 18, both of Radcliff, were arrested Friday at two locations in Hardin County for the murder of 30-year-old Gregory Jackson, of Iowa City, Iowa, according to The News-Enterprise.

Police said Milton McAbee shot and killed Jackson in Coralville, Iowa, on Christmas night, 2019.

Authorities said after the shooting the brothers lived in Chicago, Illinois. On Friday, though, Iowa authorities contact the Radcliff Police Department and said the pair was likely in Hardin County.

The Elizabethtown Police Department’s Special Response Team assisted Radcliff police in arresting Milton McAbee at a home on Clear Ridge Lane, in Radcliff. Elijah McAbeen was taken into custody a short time later on Village Drive, in Elizabethtown.

Milton McAbeen has been charged with first-degree murder while Elijah McAbee is charged with first-degree aiding and abetting. Both are class A felonies with an automatic life sentence in Iowa if convicted.

According to a report Saturday in The Gazette in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, three people were found with gunshot wounds when police responded to the shooting scene on Christmas night, The News-Enterprise reports. A fourth victim later arrived at a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Jackson is the only one of the people shot to succumb to injuries. According to the story, the events of the night started with an argument that escalated, resulting in the shooting.

Both McAbees are being held in the Hardin County Detention Center as they await extradition.
