Mother Nature dropped copious amounts of sleet on Grayson County on Monday and now, at the time of publication (6:40 p.m.), heavy snow has moved into the area.

Disparate amounts of snow and sleet have fallen around the county, with an average of about three inches of precipitation currently on the ground. The snowfall is expected to last until about 10:00 Monday night, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), and add another three to four inches of snow.

Road conditions throughout Grayson County are rapidly deteriorating. The temperature remains in the low 20s, and the ice and snow covered roadways have become slick and hazardous, even in the county’s population centers. Please use extreme caution if one must travel.

The area will have a respite from the winter weather until Wednesday and into Thursday when another five to eight inches of snow is predicted, the NWS said.
