A driver has flipped a truck on the Western Kentucky Parkway near Caneyville and fled the scene.

Friday morning at approximately 3:15, Grayson County Sgt. Jason Luedke responded to the 92-mile marker of the eastbound parkway on the report of a vehicle flipping multiple times. Several callers to Grayson County Central Dispatch additionally said the male driver was walking on the eastbound shoulder. When one passerby stopped to ask the person if he needed help, the caller said the driver appeared intoxicated.

Luedke and Leitchfield officer DJ Newton looked for the driver up and down the parkway as well as at the Caneyville exit with no luck. Law enforcement also notified Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center, but hospital officials said no one matching the man’s description had arrived at the ER.

Upon arriving at the wreck scene, a strong odor of alcohol was emanating from the Lincoln Aviator.

Based on marks at the scene, the Lincoln flipped at least twice before exiting the parkway, coming to rest partially on the shoulder, partially off the roadway.

An investigation showed the vehicle is registered to a Jefferson County man.

The investigation continues.
