There has been an update related to the armed robbery of three employees of a Butler County convenience store.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office responded to the assault and armed robbery at approximately 9:45 Sunday night in the 4000 block of Caneyville Road (Hwy 79), according to a report by the Beech Tree News.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found that a male and two female employees of Don Lindsey’s Grocery, at 5740 Caneyville Road, had finished their shifts. The three were driving together toward Morgantown when they had a flat tire near the intersection of Corbie Deweese Road, approximately a mile-and-a-half from the convenience store.

While changing the tire, the three victims were “viciously attacked by a masked man wielding a crowbar,” the Beech Tree News reports. The male employee was assaulted until he was unconscious. The two females were also assaulted.

The suspect then fled on foot.

The three victims were transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

On Tuesday, Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward told the Beech Tree News that approximately $5,000 was stolen in the robbery. The suspect, according to Ward, was armed with a gun.

Additionally, the victims have been released from medical care.

The suspect is described as tall with a slender build. He was wearing all black. The victims added that they do not know where the suspect came from or the direction he fled.
